Raben in Baltics Celebrates 10 Years on the Logistics Market

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia joined the European Union in May 2004. At that time Raben Group also started its activities in this region.

Nowadays we have three Raben companies in the Baltic countries, five offices in main cities: Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, Kaunas and Klaipėda. There are over 80 Employees and we have over 3,500 m2 of warehousing and x-dock capacity at our disposal.

Raben Group in started its business activity the Baltic states in 2004 from branches located in Lithuania (Vilnius), Latvia (Riga) and Estonia (Tallinn), and after a year it doubled the number of Employees.

Years 2004 – 2007 were the "golden age" in that region. This period was ideal for creation and development of enterprises and it had a significant impact on the transport companies as well. During those years the volume of cargo transport grew significantly, e.g. in 2006 the transport sector accounted for 9.8% of GDP in Lithuania. During this economically favourable period Raben Baltics went forward in the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian markets. The companies also started offering fresh logistics services.

The sector of transport services is sensitive to changes of the economic situation. The 2008 economic downturn and consequent changes in the national economy had an enormous impact on this business. Nevertheless during the global recession Raben Baltics were able to maintain their position on the market and even increased the number of Employees by 14%.

“In March 2008 Raben Baltic companies successfully went through the quality management system certification ISO 9001:2008. This achievement strengthened the Raben Group image in the Baltic countries” says Audrius Losunovas, Managing Director, Raben Group in the Baltics.

Continuing its development Raben Group opened a new branch in Klaipėda in 2010 and launched a new product for the Latvian market - warehousing. In 2011 and 2012 Raben Lietuva was rated the financially strongest company in Lithuania by Creditinfo. In 2013 it was also placed among the 100 biggest logistics companies according to Verslo Źinios.

Nowadays Raben Baltic companies employ about 80 people showing a significant employment growth since the beginning of their operations in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia (2004:6, 2009:39).

By the end of 2013, Raben Group turnover in the Baltics amounted to 8.4 m EUR, which is 43 times bigger as compared to 2004. The warehouse facilities of Raben Baltics increased from 1,785 m2 in 2009 up to 3,500 m2 by March 2014.
