e-Commerce Outsourcer Buys 3PL

One World Direct Acquires Sanyo Logistics

One World Direct, a provider of e-fulfillment, call center and e-commerce services, entered the third-party logistics (3PL) sector with the recent acquisition of Sanyo Logistics Corporation, a subsidiary of Panasonic.

According to One World Direct CEO, Thomas Unterseher, the melding of One World’s e-fulfillment offering with Sanyo’s traditional logistics services is a natural progression.

“E-fulfillment came from e-commerce, technology and entrepreneurs – not logistics,” said Unterseher. “We saw this as an opportunity to fuse 3PL services with the nimble, tech-focused world of e-commerce fulfillment.”

According to Unterseher, the acquisition gives One World a deep offer set that includes traditional 3PL services, e-fulfillment, 24/7 call center and e-commerce services. “Our clients need all of these services. From port logistics, to home delivery to handling their calls. The line between e-commerce and other sales channels is gone. Commerce is commerce.”

In the deal, terms of which were not released, One World acquired Sanyo’s client base and staff, while taking over its 500,000 s.f. logistics center outside of Los Angeles.
