Chinese firm ZTO exceeds 1 billion parcels sent in a month
Total reached in May is highest in company’s history and is representative of high growth in Chinese e-commerce sector
Chinese express delivery company ZTO Express (NYSE: ZTO) exceeded a parcel volume of 1 billion in May 2019 for the first time in the company’s history.
ZTO operates a scalable network partner model to cover pickup and the last mile and directly oversees the line-haul transportation and sorting network. The company has nationwide coverage and also works across other value-added logistics service.
ZTO said in a press release that it hopes that it can drive further growth through technological development and creating greater economies of scale as it shifts from quantitative to more qualitative growth.
Mr. Meisong Lai, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ZTO, commented, "Parcel volume of 1 billion is equivalent to the industry's total parcel volume in 2006 or our total parcel volume in 2013, which is a significant achievement. We also hit another record starting in March 2019 with daily parcel volume reaching 30 million leading up to this milestone.
