In the north of Chile, the ports of Iquique, Antofagasta and Port Angamos are fully operational.
Valparaiso: Container berths 1, 2, 3 are operational for dry and reefer cargo. TPSV is trying to make berth 4 available for the use of fruits chambers ships moving from container piers. The older berths 5 and 7 are not operating due to various structural damage.
TPSV maintains an emergency berthing program (i.e. temporarily suspending agreed berthing windows) to ensure efficient port operation, allocating berths on a first come, first served basis.
San Antonio: STI has announced that dock structure did not suffer any serious damage that could limit normal terminal operation. However, as at the morning of March 3rd, STI did not have the power necessary to move ground resources such as gantry cranes, or to supply electrical power to reefer containers. According to the latest update, both STI and Public Dock are operating ships according to the emergency berthing program in order to reduce congestion.
San Vicente: The terminal has issued an official notice confirming that the facility did not incur any structural damage. Shore cranes appear to be operational, and the pier structure above water level appears sound after a technical review. The terminal maintains an official draft of 12 metres.
While the area between the pier and stacking yard incurred notable damages, overall damages should not limit vessel operation. However, own generators are required for electricity supply for reefers, since the public electricity supply is not yet available.
Lirquen: Damages to the pier and crane are limited. The terminal offers limited reefer care / electricity, and operation is subject to permit by maritime authorities.
In general, all terminals and depots are dealing with a shortage of labour since curfews are still in place.
Hamburg Süd will constantly monitor the situation and will issue reports as soon as further information is made available.
