Dachser terminates cooperation with Future

With effect from April 1st, Dachser will take over management of the marketing of its worldwide airfreight services and terminate its cooperation with the Future Group.

Dachser was a member of the airfreight joint venture, Future, for twelve years.

According to Thomas Reuter, managing director of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics, the cooperation was extremely successful, and the Future Group was considered a trendsetter in the German airfreight sector.

Changing market conditions and our own evolution have made this split a step Dachser has to take," Reuter said.

The dynamic growth of Dachser's Air & Sea Logistics business segment has made it necessary to create new synergies to enable higher freight capacities to be marketed worldwide. Dachser is better able to do this without the heterogeneous partner and branch landscape of the Future Group.

The split from the Future Group is a logical step within the context of Dachser's expansion strategy. Dachser has continuously expanded its global network over the past few years and is aiming at further growth in the future.

"Despite a decline in business due to the economic and financial crisis, the demand for international logistics supply chains is growing," said Reuter, adding that the company is responding to customers' requirements by optimising and further expanding its network structures.

In 2008, Dachser handled 43.3 million consignments weighing a total of 29.1 million tonnes, generating €3.6 billion in total revenue.
