The 11th 3PL Summit - co-located with the Chief Supply Chain Officer Forum - Tackling the Threats, Opportunities and Game-Changer of 2013 and Beyond - Drive Your 3PL Towards a More Profitable Future
As ‘Big Data’ is so much in vogue at the moment, Chris Saynor, CEO of eyefortransport thought he would do a little bit of (data) mining and find out which articles the great eft readership deemed to be the most interesting in 2012.
Surprisingly and a little gratifyingly for me (for purely big-headed reasons) the number one most read article was a rare piece of writing that I personally did. It was a summary of a speech that Peter Gibbons, SVP Supply Chain of Starbucks delivered at a conference I attended in Frankfurt . Peter is a great speaker, and the Starbucks story is equally interesting, so I really should claim no credit to its popularity. I conversed with Peter last month as he had just left Starbucks, he has no set plans at the moment on future roles, but I personally hope we see him in another interesting company soon.
The other major surprise for me was the number 3 most popular story about 3D printing and its possible effect on the logistics industry. The guys in the office are bored of my continued ranting about 3D printing as it is my favourite subject, and I truly believe that it is a disruptive technology of huge significance for the logistics industry (and not all positive). The great news for me, is that with it being the third most read story on eft.com last year, I now have continued justification to carry on my obsession with the topic. Indeed, we will be debating its’ future at some of our upcoming conferences this year, including the 11th 3PL Summit and CSCO Forum in Chicago in June and the 7th Hi-Tech & Electronics Supply Chain Summit in Amsterdam in May, so stay tuned for more on the subject.
