Toll Group has bought itself yet another company - this time one of New Zealand's biggest freight forwarders
Express Logistics Group (ELG) currently operates twelve freight forwarding branches across New Zealand, Australia and the US, and also provides value adding warehouse and transport services to its customers
ELG focuses mainly on serving the import and export requirements of clothing and footwear retailers in Australia and New Zealand, with the majority of its revenues coming from trans-Tasman trade and Australian and New Zealand freight movements from Greater China
According to Toll's managing director Paul Little, the acquisition will add scale in Toll Global Forwarding's key trade lanes in Asia and give ELG's customers the benefit of Toll's strong existing network in the region
For the purchase price of A$50 million, ELG will contribute approximately A$125 million per year to Toll Group revenues
So far this year, Toll has purchased a number of Asia-based companies, including Deltec, Kwikmail and Skynet; Perkins Shipping; and St-Anda Logistics and BIC Logistics, and has now completed its acquisition of the remaining share of the Footwork Express Group - one of the top ten domestic logistics providers in Japan
