TDG invests £1m in Newport depot

As part of its drive to reduce carbon emissions, TDG is investing more than £1 million in a new cooling plant at its temperature-controlled store at Newport, Gwent

The old air-cooled condensers have been replaced with a highly efficientStar Ammonia system, which uses evaporating condensers and floating head technology to reduce energy costs and provide the desired environmental benefits

"Since regulations banned R22, we have been embarking on a policy of updating our refrigerant systems," said Ian Newell, TDG's regional manager, adding that the company will continue to invest in its cold store infrastructure throughout the UK during the next twelve months

"As well as reduced energy costs, this cold store will have some of the most accurate temperature gradients available," said Newell "Temperatures are constant across whole chambers, and we have managed to equalise the temperatures so we have no peaks or troughs anywhere within the temperature controlled storage area"
