With this year’s 3PL Summit fast approaching, Chairman Herb Shear – CEO of GENCO and a veteran of the 3PL Summit – looks forward to meeting industry thought leaders in Chicago.
With more than 40 years industry experience, Herb Shear is exceptionally well placed to comment on the 2012 3PL Summit. Below, he shares his thoughts and hopes for the event.
Once again I am looking forward to attending the 3PL Summit, which this year returns to Chicago, where I first spoke at the event in 2003. Since that time, myself and members of my team have attended the event each year. We find this high-level meeting very valuable.
Since joining our family business in 1971, I have seen the huge shifts the logistics industry has experienced from the inside. While working to transform and grow our own business, I have learned first-hand the importance of staying close to our customers, and taking our strategic cues directly from them. Meeting the needs of 21st century customers is an even tougher task, but a crucial one. For us, a big part of doing so is attending the 3PL Summit & Chief Supply Chain Forum annually, to hear from peers and customers directly, and understand how to excel in customer service.
I highly recommend the 3PL Summit to anyone involved in the North American logistics industry. To me it represents a unique and worthwhile opportunity to learn from fellow decision makers, and speak to customers, partners, shareholders, and other logistics companies about the issues that really matter. The intimate nature of the event makes customer discussions especially valuable.
This is a busy time for everyone, but that makes the value of face-to-face meetings even more pronounced. This is one event I always make time for, and this year’s 10th anniversary event promises to be even more engaging and profitable. It’s an elite gathering, and I hope you can make it to join the discussion.
I look forward to meeting you in Chicago.
