‘Retaining cost and service levels achieved during the crisis,' and ‘environmental concerns' were cited as the biggest supply chain challenges facing hi-tech supply chains this year by Canon and Sharp
Alexander Hemler, director of European Transport at Canon; Johan Jemdahl, senior vice president of Supply Chain at Tandberg; and Mark Servidio, vice president of Logistics & Environment at Sharp discussed 2010 supply chain concerns, horizontal collaboration, supply chain tools and their dream supply chain solutions in a Q&A series with eyefortransport
When asked if hi-tech companies would be able to benefit from horizontal collaboration, Hemler responded that "the hi-tech industry has no choice", but stresed that there appears to be no standard business model yet for hi-tech companies to engage in supply chain collaboration with each other
Improved visibility tools, CO2 emissions measurement tools, ERP and APO were named the most influential supply chain tools for hi-tech companies this year, with visibility and transparency cited as the key goals
Hemler, Jemdahl and Servidio were also asked what their dream supply chain solution would be, irrespective of how unrealistic it may seem Their answers ranged from the practical "Customers ordering once a week" (Servidio), to the futuristic "A virtual supply chain where only data needs to be shipped" (Hemler)
Hemler, Jemdahl and Servidio will expand on these topics as speakers at the Hi-Tech & Electronics Supply Chain Summit in Amsterdam on May 26th -27th The Summit is complimentary for supply chain executives from hi-tech & electronics manufacturers and retailers
The event offers elite learning and networking opportunities specifically focused on hi-tech supply chain issues
Other speakers include executives from Microsoft, HP, Cisco, Infineon, Fujitsu, IBM, Panasonic, Walt Disney, and more
