EC serves Objections notice on Expeditors of Washington and Hong Kong

International freight forwarding and logistics company, Expeditors International of Washington, and its subsidiary Expeditors Hong Kong have received a Statement of Objections from the European Commission

The Statement of Objections initiates a proceeding against Expeditors alleging possible anti-competitive activities in violation of European Union rules on competition

Specific to Expeditors, the allegations are limited to the period from August 2005 to June 2006, and only concern airfreight trade lanes between South China/Hong Kong and the European Economic Area

Expeditors intends to vigorously defend itself against the allegations

Should Expeditors be found to have committed an infringement against European Union anti-competition laws, it may result in material fines and penalties

Expeditors is the sixth logistics company to be served with Objections notices by the EC, and according to a Reuters report, UTi Worldwide has also received an Objections notice
