DHL launches direct LCL services from the US to Korea

DHL has launched direct LCL services from New York and Chicago to Pusan, enhancing its connectivity between the US and South Korea

DHL's latest LCL service from New York and Chicago to Pusan will serve to boost the significant trade volumes between the two countries Bilateral trade between the two countries amounted to US$679 billion in 2009, and Korea is the US's seventh-largest trading partner

Operated by DHL's in-house carrier, Danmar Lines, the new weekly service shaves between three and five days of transit times, since it eliminates rail delays and rehandling of cargo in Los Angeles by moving directly from the Port of New York The Chicago-Pusan weekly service, via the Port of Long Beach, eliminates rehandling of cargo utilising intact containers

Not limited to traditional port-to-port service, the new LCL service also offers complete end-to-end supply chain management, which includes pick-up at origin, consolidation and deconsolidation, delivery at destination, customs clearance and DHL Track & Trace

DHL launched nine other direct LCL services from the US in 2009, and operates ten direct LCL routes from Pusan to destinations around the world
