The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has successfully implemented a new release of Mincom's solution for enterprise asset management, Mincom Ellipse, as the core enabling application for its new Military Integrated Logistics Information System (MILIS)
Completed under Phase 2B1 of Joint Project 2077, a multi-phased program designed to improve military logistics across the entire ADF organisation, MILIS represents the world's first deployment of a fully integrated, tri-services military-logistics solution
MILIS supports more than 9,000 ADF users across 160 logistics sites, both within Australia and around the world The new system also manages approximately $6 billion in ADF assets and inventory, and processes more than sixteen million transactions per year
Representing a significant upgrade of the ADF's logistics capabilities, MILIS provides improved visibility and control over the ADF's assets and inventory, delivering greater financial accountability and improving the integrity of its supply chain The fully NATO-compliant MILIS catalogue and inventory practices underpin ADF's interoperability with Coalition Forces
"The successful deployment of MILIS is the most significant phase of ADF's $650 million program designed to completely transform its logistics environment, and represents a significant milestone for both Mincom and the ADF," said Mincom CEO Greg Clark "Not only will this new system revolutionize the application of military logistics for all services within the Australian defence infrastructure, but it can serve as a best-practices model for other defence organisations around the world as they move away from ‘stovepipe' custom applications and mature their joint-logistics capabilities We believe we have established a new standard and precedent for the defence industry worldwide"
The successful implementation of MILIS delivers the foundation for future phases of JP2077, such as Phase 2B2, which will deliver a deployable version of MILIS that can operate when communications are discontinued, such as on Navy ships and submarines
